The Elements Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEFDEF

I saw the spirit of the pines that spokeA
With spirits of the ocean and the stormB
Against the tumult rose its tattered formB
Wild rain and darkness round it like a cloakA
Fearful it stood limbed like some twisted oakA
Gesticulating with one giant armC
Raised as in protest of the night's alarmC
Defiant still of some impending strokeA
Below it awful in its majestyD
The spirit of the deep with rushing locksE
Raved and above it lightning clad and shodF
Thundered the tempest Thus they stood the threeD
Terror around them while upon the rocksE
Destruction danced mocking at man and GodF
