The Boy Columbus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAB DEDDE FGFFG DHDDH IHIIH IJIIJ

And he had mused on lands each birdA
That winged from realms of FalerinaB
O'er seas of the Enchanted SwordC
In romance sang him till he heardA
Vague foam on Islands of AlcinaB
-
For rich Levant and old CastileD
Let other seamen freight their galleysE
With Polo he and MandevilleD
Through stranger seas a dreamy keelD
Sailed into wonder peopled valleysE
-
Far continents of flow'r and fruitF
Of everlasting spring where fountainsG
'Mid flow'rs with human faces shootF
Where races dwell both man and bruteF
In cities under golden mountainsG
-
Where cataracts their thunders hurlD
From heights the tempest has at mercyH
Vast peaks that touch the moon and whirlD
Their torrents down of gold and pearlD
And forests strange as those of CirceH
-
Let rapiered Love lute in the shadeI
Of royal gardens to the PalaceH
And Court that haunt the balustradeI
Of terraces and still paradeI
Their vanity and guile and maliceH
-
Him something calls diviner yetI
Than Love more mighty than a loverJ
Heroic Truth that will not letI
Deed lag a purpose westward setI
In eyes far seeing to discoverJ
