The Blue Mertensia Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDC EFEF GHGH IJI KLKL

This is the path he used to takeA
That ended at a rose porched doorB
He takes it now for oldtime's sakeA
And love of yoreB
-
The blue mertensia by the stoneC
Lifts questioning eyes that seem to sayD
'Why is it now you walk aloneC
On this dim way '-
-
And then a wild bird from a boughE
Out of his heart the answer takesF
'He walks alone with memory nowE
And heart that breaksF
-
'And Loss and Longing witches whoG
Usurp the wood and change to woeH
The dream of happiness he knewG
Long long agoH
-
'The faery princess from whose gazeI
The blue mertensia learned that lookJ
Retaining still beside these waysI
The joy it took '-
-
He listens conscious of no partK
In wildwood question and replyL
The wood from out its mighty heartK
Heaves one deep sighL
