Swinging Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AA BB CC DD EE AA FG HH GG GG II AA

Under the boughs of springA
She swung in the old rope swingA
-
Her cheeks with their happy bloodB
Were pink as the apple budB
-
Her eyes with their deep delightC
Were glad as the stars of nightC
-
Her curls with their romp and funD
Were hoiden as wind and sunD
-
Her lips with their laughter shrillE
Were wild as a woodland rillE
-
Under the boughs of springA
She swung in the old rope swingA
-
And I who leaned on the fenceF
Watching her innocenceG
-
As under the boughs that bentH
Now high now low she wentH
-
In her soul the ecstasiesG
Of the stars the brooks the breezeG
-
Had given the rest of my yearsG
With their blessings and hopes and fearsG
-
To have been as she was thenI
And just for a moment againI
-
A boy in the old rope swingA
Under the boughs of springA
