Rhyme Scheme: ABACDD E FFFFGG E FHFIDD J KDKDJJ

A Sea of onyx are the skiesA
Cloud islanded with fireB
Such nacre colored flame as dyesA
A sea shell's rosy spireC
And at its edge one star sinks slowD
Burning into the overglowD

Save for the cricket in the grassF
Or passing bird that twittersF
The world is hushed Like liquid glassF
The soundless river glittersF
Between the hills that hug and holdG
Its beauty like a hoop of goldG
-
IIIE
-
The glory deepens and meseemsF
A vasty canvas paintedH
With revelations of God's dreamsF
And visions symbol saintedI
The west is that each night cowled hillD
Kneels down before in worship stillD
-
IVJ
-
There is no thing to wake unrestK
No sight or sound to jangleD
The peace that evening in the breastK
Brings smoothing out the tangleD
Of gnarls and knots of care and strifeJ
That snarl the colored cord of lifeJ
