Solstice Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFFGHGHIJKJLL MNMNOPOPQQRSRSTUTUVV

The ant is busy with its houseA
The bee is at its treeB
And by its nest among the boughsC
The bird makes melodyB
The Day reluctant still to leaveD
Sits crystal at its noonE
Like some sweet girl with naught to grieveD
Sighing a dreamy tuneE
Oh hark my heart and quit your questF
The song she sighs is one of restF
The butterfly is on its flowerG
The wasp is at its clayH
The wind to bramble lane and bowerG
Whispers of yesterdayH
The Afternoon goes to its closeI
With bright attendant statesJ
Like some calm queen who seeks reposeK
Behind her palace gatesJ
Oh look my heart your pining ceaseL
That way at last you shall find peaceL
The cricket trills the beetle boomsM
The mole heaves at its moundN
Pale moths come forth like ghosts of bloomsM
The firefly goes its roundN
The eve puts off her gown of goldO
And for a moment standsP
Before her couch a lamp of oldO
The new moon in her handsP
Oh heart go follow where it gleamsQ
And find again your world of dreamsQ
The life that wakes at dark comes outR
The spider nimbly weavesS
The bat flits silently aboutR
The drowsy owlet grievesS
The Night goes stealing to her trystT
Breathing a fragrant sighU
One jewel from her starry wristT
Drops down the quiet skyU
Heart let it be a sign to youV
Of love behind the bending blueV
