So Much To Do Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDB EFEFDF GHGHDH DIDDDI JKJKDL MNMNDN OPOPDP ANANDN

The face of the world is a homely faceA
And the look of the world unkindB
When harsh on your arm a hand it laysC
And bids you into the grindB
That 's little to your mind my dearD
That 's little to your mindB
-
But it 's work that counts in the world you seeE
Not what we dream but doF
For the dreamer of dreams whatever he beE
If he 'd have his dreams come trueF
Must be a workman too my dearD
Must be a workman tooF
-
So much to do so much to knowG
So much that life would shirkH
But each is one of a hive belowG
The world's great Hive of IrkH
Where each must do his work my dearD
Each one must do his workH
-
A song a look a word of cheerD
Will help more than a sighI
For this is the law of the hive my dearD
That every bee must try my dearD
And all the drones must die my dearD
That all the drones must dieI
-
Oft times it seems that the end is farJ
And the work we do in vainK
That night will never reveal a starJ
And day bring only rainK
To trouble our hearts again my dearD
To trouble our hearts againL
-
But ever the stars are shining thereM
With ever the old regardN
And be it foul or be it fairM
However long debarredN
All work has its reward my dearD
All work has its rewardN
-
Could summer come without the roseO
Or morn without the sunP
And thus shall toil bring soul's reposeO
To each and every oneP
Whose work at last is done my dearD
Whose work at last is doneP
-
For the face of the world is a homely faceA
But the look in its eyes is kindN
To him who sets his heart's brisk paceA
To the work he has in mindN
And turns not with the wind my dearD
And turns not with the windN
