Sin Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD

There is a legend of an old Hartz towerA
That tells of one a noble who had soldB
His soul unto the Fiend who grew not oldB
On this condition That the demon's powerA
Cease every midnight for a single hourA
And in that hour his body should be coldB
His limbs grow shriveled and his face beholdB
Become a death's head in the taper's glowerA
So unto Sin Life gives his best Her artsC
Make all his outward seeming beautifulD
Before the world but in his heart of heartsC
Abides an hour when her strength is nullD
When he shall feel the death through all his partsC
Strike and his countenance become a skullD
