Riley Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDBEFFEGBEBBE

His Birthday October the thA
RILEY whose pen has made the world your debtorB
Whose Art has kept you young through sixty yearsC
Brimming our hearts with laughter and with tearsD
Holding her faith pure to the very letterB
We come to you today both man and womanE
And happy little children girl and boyF
To laurel you with all our love and joyF
And crown you for the dreams your pen made humanE
For Orphant Annie and for Old Aunt MaryG
The Raggedty Man who never will grow olderB
And all the kindly folks from Griggsby's StationE
Immortal throngs with Spirk and Wunk and FaeryB
Who swarm behind you peering o'er your shoulderB
Sharing with you the blessings of a NationE
