LISTEN dearest you must love me moreA
More than you did beforeA
Hark what a beating here of wingsB
Never at restC
Dear in your breastC
Is it your heart with its flutteringsB
Making a music love for us bothD
Or merely a moth a velvet winged mothE
Which out of the garden's fragrance swingsB
Weaving a spellF
That holds the rose and the moon in thrallG
I love you more than I can tellF
And no recallG
How long agoH
Our quarrel and allG
You say you knowH
A perfect pearl grows out of wellF
A little friction tiny grainI
Of sand or shellF
So love grew out of that moment's painI
The heart's disdainI
Since then I have thought of no one but youJ
And how your heart would beat on mineK
Like light on dewJ
And I thought how foolish to fret and pineK
Better to claim the fault all mineK
To go to you and tell you thatL
And how stale and flatL
All life without you was and vainI
And when I came you turned and smiledM
Like a darling childM
And I knew from your look that in your heartN
You had followed the self same trainI
Of thought that made me yours againO
Dearest no moreA
We shall never partN
So Turn your face as you did beforeA
I smooth your browP
And kiss you NowP
Tell me trueJ
Did you miss me dear as I missed youJ
