Rain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBABBAA CCDDCDDCC

Around the stillness deepened then the grainA
Went wild with wind and every briery laneA
Was swept with dust and then tempestuous blackB
Hillward the tempest heaved a monster backB
That on the thunder leaned as on a caneA
And on huge shoulders bore a cloudy packB
That gullied gold from many a lightning crackB
One big drop splashed and wrinkled down the paneA
And then field hill and wood were lost in rainA
-
At last through clouds as from a cavern hewnC
Into night's heart the sun burst angry roonC
And every cedar with its weight of wetD
Against the sunset's fiery splendor setD
Frightened to beauty seemed with rubies strewnC
Then in drenched gardens like sweet phantoms metD
Dim odors rose of pink and mignonetteD
And in the east a confidence that soonC
Grew to the calm assurance of the moonC
