What words of mine can tell the spellB
Of garden ways I know so wellB
The path that takes me in the springC
Past quince trees where the bluebirds singC
And peonies are blossomingC
Unto a porch wistaria hungD
Around whose steps May lilies blowE
A fair girl reaches down amongD
Her arm more white than their sweet snowE

What words of mine can tell the spellB
Of garden ways I know so wellB
Another path that leads me whenF
The summer time is here againF
Past hollyhocks that shame the westG
When the red sun has sunk to restG
To roses bowering a nestG
A lattice 'neath which mignonetteG
And deep geraniums surge and soughH
Where in the twilight starless yetG
A fair girl's eyes are stars enoughH

What words of mine can tell the spellB
Of garden ways I know so wellB
A path that takes me when the daysI
Of autumn wrap the hills in hazeI
Beneath the pippin pelting treeJ
'Mid flitting butterfly and beeJ
Unto a door where fieryJ
The creeper climbs and garnet huedG
The cock's comb and the dahlia flareK
And in the door where shades intrudeG
Gleams bright a fair girl's sunbeam hairK

What words of mine can tell the spellB
Of garden ways I know so wellB
A path that brings me through the frostG
Of winter when the moon is tossedG
In clouds beneath great cedars weakL
With shaggy snow past shrubs blown bleakL
With shivering leaves to eaves that leakL
The tattered ice whereunder isM
A fire flickering window spaceN
And in the light with lips to kissO
A fair girl's welcome smiling faceN
