Ossian's Poems Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAACCADEFEGG

Here I have heard on hills the battle clashA
Roar to the windy sea that roared againB
When drunk with wrath upon the clanking plainC
Barbaric kings did meet in war and dashA
Their mail d thousands down heard onset crashA
Like crags contending 'gainst the battering mainC
Torrents of helms beaming like streams of rainC
Blue billowing 'neath the pale moon's fitful flashA
Saw the scared moon hang over the black woodD
Like a pale wreath of foam shields spears and swordsE
Shoot green as meteors thro' the steely floodF
Or shine like ripples 'round their heathen lordsE
Standing like stubborn rocks whence the wild waveG
Of war circled in steel and foamed out brave on braveG
