Last night we were kept awakeA
Could n't sleep for Old Jack FrostB
Wandering round like some old ghostC
Gave the door an awful shakeA
Knocked against my bed's brass postC
Last night we were kept awakeA
Could n't sleep he made such noiseD
Rapped and tapped and prowled aroundE
Once he made a snapping soundE
Just like that of breaking toysD
You'd been scared too I'll be boundE
Could n't sleep he made such noiseD
All was dark and very stillF
When right at the window 'bing 'G
Came a rap that made me singH
'Mother I'm afraid ' untilF
Mother fussed like everythingH
All was dark and very stillF
'Old Jack Frost is raising NedI
And to morrow wish to stateJ
We'll get even sure as fateJ
Cure him of his tricks ' she saidI
'Start a fire in the grateJ
Old Jack Frost is raising Ned 'G
Then I heard my father's voiceK
'You just let Jack Frost aloneL
He's good friends you should have knownL
With Old Santa Little boysD
Are not scared of him my son 'G
Then I heard my father's voiceK
So I went to sleep againM
Let him bang the furnitureN
All he cared to I was sureO
I'd get even that was plainP
Old Man Fire would be his cureO
So I went to sleep againM
Once he rattled at my mugQ
Where was water then he creptR
Round the room and softly steptR
Here and there upon the rugQ
Felt his breath but I just sleptR
Once he rattled at my mugQ
Well you should have seen the thingsS
That he painted on the panesT
When 't was morning towns and trainsT
Flowers and fairies ropes and ringsS
Stars and ribboned weather vanesT
Well you should have seen the thingsS
I just shouted when I sawU
Called to father 'Just look hereV
Old Jack Frost is such a dearW
Wish he'd show me how to drawU
I'd be good for one whole year 'G
I just shouted when I sawU
