Don't know what to do to dayA
Got so many things to doB
I can't do them Want to playA
But my toys are all too newB
I don't like to play with themC
Blocks and paints and dogs and gunsD
Watch that winds up by the stemC
And a train of cars that runsD
Round a track and far awayA
Don't know what to do to dayA
Don't know what to do to dayA
-
Whether just to stand and lookE
At my Christmas tree or stayA
Looking at my picture bookE
Full of fairy stories orF
Ask to have them read to meG
Or to bother mother forF
Something off the Christmas treeG
I don't know and I can't sayA
Don't know what to do to dayA
Don't know what to do to dayA
-
Never can make up my mindH
I could take my new red sleighA
And go sleighing on behindH
Some old wagon on the snowI
As the other children doB
But you see I just don't knowI
There's my brand new wagon tooB
It'd be lonesome me awayA
Don't know what to do to dayA
Don't know what to do to dayA
-
There's my fine new rocking horseJ
Long of tail and dapple grayA
I might ride on him of courseJ
But my new velocipedeA
What would it do then or whatA
Would that 'fiery untamed steed '-
That I almost had forgotA
Hobbyhorse just think or sayA
Don't know what to do to dayA
Don't know what to do to dayA
-
But I know what I could doA
I could make my donkey brayA
By just twisting round a screwA
In his stomach and that's allK
I might make my rooster crowI
And my big mechanical dollL
Play his music box and ohI
I could make my old hen layA
That's what I could do to dayA
'Don't know what to do to day '-
-
Mother says 'Well I supposeM
Better put your toys awayA
You've too many heaven knowsM
Don't know what Old Santa meantA
Bringing you a toy store YouA
Have too much that's evidentA
Give some to those children whoA
Have n't toys with which to playA
That's what you could do to dayA
-
'Don't know what to do to dayA
That's just what you could do takeN
Lot of these new toys you sayA
You won't play with and just makeN
Christmas visits to the poorO
Little boys and girls Old KrisP
Skipped just made his old sleigh soarF
O'er their chimneys seemed to missP
Every one along his wayA
That's what you could do to day '-
That's what I could do to dayA
-
Then I helped her put some thingsQ
Toys and cakes and fruit awayA
Parceled up and wrapped with stringsQ
In a basket Then we wentA
And it was a lot of funR
To an alley tenementA
Made them happy every oneR
It was better than a playA
That was what I did to dayA
