Nightfall Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ

O day so sicklied o'er with nightA
O dreadful fruit of fallen duskB
A Circe orange golden brightA
With horror 'neath its huskB
-
And I who gave the promise heedC
That made life's tempting surface fairD
Have I not eaten to the seedC
Its ashes of despairD
-
O silence of the drifted grassE
And immemorial eloquenceF
Of stars and winds and waves that passE
And God's indifferenceF
-
Leave me alone with sleep that knowsG
Not any thing that life may keepH
Not e'en the pulse that comes and goesG
In germs that climb and creepH
-
Or if an aspiration paleI
Must quicken there oh let the spotJ
Grow weeds that dost may so prevailI
Where spirit once could notJ
