Mendicants Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE

Bleak in dark rags of clouds the day beginsA
That passed so splendidly but yesterdayB
Wrapped in magnificence of gold and grayB
And poppy and rose Now burdened as with sinsA
Their wildness clad in fogs like coats of skinsA
Tattered and streaked with rain gaunt clogged with clayB
The mendicant Hours take their somber wayB
Westward o'er Earth to which no sunray winsA
Their splashing sandals ooze their foosteps dripC
Puddle and brim with moisture their sad hairD
Is tagged with haggard drops that with their eyes'E
Slow streams are blent each sullen fingertipC
Rivers while round them in the grief drenched airD
Wearies the wind of their perpetual sighsE
