Masks Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACDAEFGEFG

Death rides black masked to night and through the landA
Madness beside him brandishes a torchB
The peaceful farmhouse with its vine wreathed porchB
Lies in their way Death lifts a bony handA
And knocks and Madness makes a wild demandA
Of fierce Defiance then the night's deep archC
Reverberates and under beech and latchD
A dead face stares shot where one took his standA
Then down the night wild hoofs the darkness beatsE
And like a torrent through the startled townF
Destruction sweeps high overhead a flameG
And Violence that shoots amid the streetsE
A piercing whistle one who gallops downF
And Death and Madness go the way they cameG
