Last Days Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH AIAI

Aye heartbreak of the tattered hillsA
And mourning of the raining skyB
Heartbreak and mourning since God willsA
Are mine and God knows whyB
-
The brutal wind that herds the stormC
In hail big clouds that freeze alongD
As this gray heart are doubly warmC
With thrice the joy of songD
-
I held one dearer than each dayE
Of life God sets in limpid goldF
What thief hath stole that gem awayE
To leave me poor and oldF
-
The heartbreak of the hills be mineG
Of trampled twig and mired leafH
Of rain that sobs through thorn and pineG
An unavailing griefH
-
The sorrow of the childless skies'A
Good nights long said yet never saidI
As when I kissed my child's blue eyesA
And lips ice dumb and deadI
