Ku Klux Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAA BBB CCC DDD EEE FFF GGG CCC

We have sent him seeds of the melon's coreA
And nailed a warning upon his doorA
By the Ku Klux laws we can do no moreA
-
Down in the hollow 'mid crib and stackB
The roof of his low porched house looms blackB
Not a line of light at the door sill's crackB
-
Yet arm and mount and mask and rideC
The hounds can sense though the fox may hideC
And for a word too much men oft have diedC
-
The clouds blow heavy toward the moonD
The edge of the storm will reach it soonD
The kildee cries and the lonesome loonD
-
The clouds shall flush with a wilder glareE
Than the lightning makes with its angled flareE
When the Ku Klux verdict is given thereE
-
In the pause of the thunder rolling lowF
A rifle's answer who shall knowF
From the wind's fierce hurl and the rain's black blowF
-
Only the signature written grimG
At the end of the message brought to himG
A hempen rope and a twisted limbG
-
So arm and mount and mask and rideC
The hounds can sense though the fox may hideC
For a word too much men oft have diedC
