In The Lane Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDE FGFGDE HIHIDE JKJLDE MNONDE

When the hornet hangs in the hollyhockA
And the brown bee drones i' the roseB
And the west is a red streaked four o'clockA
And summer is near its closeC
It's oh for the gate and the locust laneD
And dusk and dew and home againE
-
When the katydid sings and the cricket criesF
And ghosts of the mists ascendG
And the evening star is a lamp i' the skiesF
And summer is near its endG
It's oh for the fence and the leafy laneD
And the twilight peace and the tryst againE
-
When the owlet hoots in the dogwood treeH
That leans to the rippling RunI
And the wind is a wildwood melodyH
And summer is almost doneI
It's oh for the bridge and the bramble laneD
And the fragrant hush and her hands againE
-
When fields smell sweet with the dewy hayJ
And woods are cool and wanK
And a path for dreams is the Milky WayJ
And summer is nearly goneL
It's oh for the rock and the woodland laneD
And the silence and stars and her lips againE
-
When the weight of the apples breaks down the boughsM
And muskmelons split with sweetN
And the moon is a light in Heaven's houseO
And summer has spent its heatN
It's oh for the lane the trysting laneD
The deep mooned night and her love againE
