In An Old Garden Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIJ KLML NOPO QRSR TGUG VWXW DYZA2

The Autumn pines and fadesA
Upon the withered treesB
And over there a choked despairC
You hear the moaning breezeB
-
The violets are deadD
Dead the tall hollyhocksE
That hang like rags on the wind crushed flagsF
And the lilies' livid stocksE
-
The wild gourd clambers freeG
Where the clematis was wontH
Where nenuphars waxed thick as starsI
Rank weeds stagnate the fontJ
-
Yet in my dreams I hearK
A tinkling mandolinL
In the dark blue light of a fragrant nightM
Float in and out and inL
-
And the dewy vine that climbsN
To my lady's lattice swaysO
And behind the vine there come to shineP
Two pleasant eyes and gazeO
-
And now a perfume comesQ
A swift Favonian gustR
And the shrinking grass where it doth passS
Bows slave like to the dustR
-
In dreams I see her driftT
A mist of draperyG
In her jeweled shawl divinely tallU
A Dian deityG
-
The moon broods high and fullV
O'er the broken Psyche coldW
And there she stands her dainty handsX
And thin wrists warm with goldW
-
But lovers now are deadD
The air is stung with frostsY
And naught may you find save the homeless windZ
Dead violets' ghosts and ghostsA2
