Were I an artist Lydia IA
Would paint you as you meritB
Not as my eyes but dreams descryC
Not in the flesh but spiritB

The canvas I would paint you onD
Should be a bit of heavenE
My brush a sunbeam pigments dawnF
And night and starry evenG

Your form and features to expressH
Likewise your soul's chaste whitenessI
I'd take the primal essencesI
Of darkness and of brightnessI

I'd take pure night to paint your hairC
Stars for your eyes and morningJ
To paint your skin the rosy airC
That is your limbs' adorningJ

To paint the love bows of your lipsI
I'd mix for colors kissesI
And for your breasts and finger tipsI
Sweet odors and soft blissesI

And to complete the picture wellK
I'd temper all with womanE
Some tears some laughter heaven and hellK
To show you still are humanE
