NOONB
-
The tanned and sultry noon climbs highA
Up gleaming reaches of the skyA
Below the balmy belts of pinesC
The cliff lunged river laps and shinesC
Adown the aromatic dellD
Sifts the warm harvest's musky smellD
And oh above one sees and hearsE
The brawny throated harvestersF
Their red brows beaded with the heatG
By twos and threes among the wheatG
Flash their hot sickles' slendernessF
In loops of shine and sing and singH
Like some mad troop of piping PanI
Along the hills that swoon or ringH
With sounds of Ariel airinessF
That haunted freckled CalibanI
-
O ho O ho 'tis noon I sayF
The roses blowJ
Away away above the hayF
The burly bees to the roses gayF
Hum love tunes all the livelong dayF
So low so lowJ
The roses' Minnesingers theyF

TWILIGHTK
-
Up velvet lawns of lilac skiesF
The tawny moon begins to riseF
Behind low blue black hills of treesF
As rises from faint Siren seasF
To rock in purple deeps hip hidL
A virgin bosom'd OceanidL
Gaunt shadows crouch by rock and woodL
Like hairy Satyrs grim and rudeL
Till the white Dryads of the moonI
Come noiseless in their silver shoonI
To beautify them with their loveM
The sweet sad notes I hear I hearN
Beyond dim pines and mellow hillsF
Of some fair maiden harvesterO
The lovely Limnad of the groveP
Whose singing charms me while it killsF
-
O deep O deep the twilight rareQ
Pales on to sleepR
And fair so fair fades the rich airQ
The fountain shines in its ferny lairQ
Where the cold Nymph sits in her oozy hairQ
To weep to weepR
For a mortal youth who is not thereQ
