Garden Gossip Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAB CDCCD EFEEF G GG HH H

Thin chisel fine a cricket chippedA
The crystal silence into soundB
And where the branches dreamed and drippedA
A grasshopper its dagger strippedA
And on the humming darkness groundB
-
A bat against the gibbous moonC
Danced implike with its lone delightD
The glowworm scrawled a golden runeC
Upon the dark and emerald strewnC
The firefly hung with lamps the nightD
-
The flowers said their beads in prayerE
Dew syllables of sighed perfumeF
Or talked of two soft standing thereE
One like a gladiole straight and fairE
And one like some rich poppy bloomF
-
The mignonette and feverfewG
Laid their pale brows together 'See '-
One whispered 'Did their step thrill throughG
Your roots ' 'Like rain ' 'I touched the twoG
And a new bud was born in me '-
-
One rose said to another 'WhoseH
Is this dim music song that partsH
My crimson petals like the dews '-
'My blossom trembles with sweet newsH
It is the love of two young hearts '-
