Friends Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBABA CDDCEC FGGFGF HIIHJH HKKHKH

Down through the woods along the wayA
That fords the stream by rock and treeB
Where in the bramble bell the beeB
Swings and through twilights green and grayA
The redbird flashes suddenlyB
My thoughts went wandering to dayA
-
I found the fields where row on rowC
The blackberries hang dark with fruitD
Where nesting at the elder's rootD
The partridge whistles soft and lowC
The fields that billow to the footE
Of those old hills we used to knowC
-
There lay the pond all willow boundF
On whose bright face when noons were hotG
We marked the bubbles rise some plotG
To lure us in while all aroundF
Our heads like faery fancies shotG
The dragonflies without a soundF
-
The pond above which evening bentH
To gaze upon her gypsy faceI
Wherein the twinkling night would traceI
A vague inverted firmamentH
In which the green frogs tuned their bassJ
And firefly sparkles came and wentH
-
The oldtime place we often rangedH
When we were playmates you and IK
The oldtime fields with boyhood's skyK
Still blue above them Naught was changedH
Nothing Alas then tell me whyK
Should we be whom the years estrangedH
