Rhyme Scheme: AAABABA C DDDEDFD C GGGHGHG I JJJIJIJ I KKKLKLK I MMMNMNM I O OOOO

When dusk falls cool as a rained on roseA
And a tawny tower the twilight showsA
With the crescent moon the silver moon the curved new moon in a space that glowsA
A turret window that grows a lightB
There is a path that my Fancy knowsA
A glimmering shimmering path of nightB
That far as the Land of Faery goesA

And I follow the path as Fancy leadsD
Over the mountains into the meadsD
Where the firefly cities the glowworm cities the fairy cities are strung like beadsD
Each city a twinkling starE
And I live a life of valorous deedsD
And march with the Fairy King to warF
And ride with his knights on milk white steedsD

Or it's there in the whirl of their life I sitG
Or dance in their houses with starlight litG
Their blossom houses their flower houses their elfin houses of fern leaves knitG
With fronded spires and domesH
And there it is that my lost dreams flitG
And the ghost of my childhood smiling roamsH
With the fairy children so dear to itG

And it's there I hear that they all come trueJ
The fairy stories whatever they doJ
Elf and goblin dear elf and goblin loved elf and goblin and all the crewJ
Of witch and wizard and gnome and fayI
And prince and princess that wander throughJ
The storybooks we have put awayI
The fairytales that we loved and knewJ

The face of Adventure lures you thereK
And the eyes of Danger bid you dareK
While ever the bugles the silver bugles the far off bugles of Elfland blareK
The fairy trumpets to battle blowL
And you feel their thrill in your heart and hairK
And you fain would follow and mount and goL
And march with the Fairies anywhereK

And she she rides at your side againM
Your little sweetheart whose age is tenM
She is the princess the fairy princess the princess fair that you worshipped whenM
You were a prince in a fairytaleN
And you do great deeds as you did them thenM
With your magic spear and enchanted mailN
Braving the dragon in his denM
-

-
And you ask again 'Oh where shall we rideO
Now that the monster is slain my bride '-
'Back to the cities the firefly cities the glowworm cities where we can hideO
The beautiful cities of FaerylandO
And the light of my eyes shall be your guideO
The light of my eyes and my snow white handO
And there forever we two will abide '-
