Made a face of biscuit dough	A
Which our black cook gave me once	B
And this girl named So and So	A
Said 't was funnier than a dunce	A

And she took it put it on	C
Like a false face Had it drawn	D

So she said 'a perfect fit '	-

She looked funny as a clown	E
And I called her Dough Face she	F
Laughed and said 'Let's saunter down	E
Where the people too can see	F

In these features nose and eyes	A
Some long lost belov d child	G
And for very joy go wild '	-

It was getting dusk and there	H
At the corner stood some girls	A
When they saw us I declare	H
They just hollered tossed their curls	A

Ran away and Dough Face fast	I
After them And running past	I
Came some boys who when they saw	A
Shouted at her 'Mardi Graw '	-

And one said 'That looks to me	F
Like that Girlie Good Enough	J
Just as dough faced is n't she	F
Get some dirt Let's treat her rough '	-

And they got soft mud to throw	A
Then she cried 'I'm So and So'	A
And the boys all shouted for	K
You must know she's popular	L

Then we had great times we did	M
First one boy he tried it on	C
Then another and he hid	M
In a house where folks were gone	D

Stood there at a window where	H
People passing in the square	H
Saw him and a nigger man	N
Scared to death just yelled and ran	N

Then another fellow clomb	F
A back fence and put the face	A
Over his My he looked rum	F
Like a scarecrow in a place	A

Where he never ought to be	F
And he rose up suddenly	F
By the window with a yell	O
And the cook she shrieked and fell	O

But the house man who was there	H
In the kitchen was n't scared	P
He just jumped up from his chair	H
Banged the door wide out he flared	P

Caught that boy and cried'police '	-
Tore the dough mask piece by piece	A
From his face then So and So	A
Screamed at him 'You let him go '	-

On the hydrant was a hose	A
Quick she took it turned it on	C
Streamed it in his mouth and nose	A
In a moment we were gone	D

Left him spluttering at our backs	A
Blind with water We made tracks	A
