Content Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACA ADADA ABACA AEAEA AFAFA AGAGA AHAHA

When I behold how some pursueA
Fame that is Care's embodimentB
Or fortune whose false face looks trueA
An humble home with sweet contentC
Is all I ask for me and youA
-
An humble home where pigeons cooA
Whose path leads under breezy linesD
Of frosty berried cedars toA
A gate one mass of trumpet vinesD
Is all I ask for me and youA
-
A garden which all summer throughA
The roses old make redolentB
And morning glories gay of hueA
And tansy with its homely scentC
Is all I ask for me and youA
-
An orchard that the pippins strewA
From whose bruised gold the juices springE
A vineyard where the grapes hang blueA
Wine big and ripe for vintagingE
Is all I ask for me and youA
-
A lane that leads to some far viewA
Of forest or of fallow landF
Bloomed o'er with rose and meadow rueA
Each with a bee in its hot handF
Is all I ask for me and youA
-
At morn a pathway deep with dewA
And birds to vary time and tuneG
At eve a sunset avenueA
And whippoorwills that haunt the moonG
Is all I ask for me and youA
-
Dear heart with wants so small and fewA
And faith that's better far than goldH
A lowly friend a child or twoA
To care for us when we are oldH
Is all I ask for me and youA
