Rhyme Scheme: ABCADCCAEFGEFF H FFFFFFFFFIJFIJ H FFFFFFFFKLMKLM N FFFFFFFFKCNKCNThis is the place where visions come to dance | A |
Dreams of the trees and flowers glimmeringly | B |
Where the white moon and the pale stars can see | C |
Sitting with Legend and with dim Romance | A |
This is the place where all the silvery clans | D |
Of Music meet music of bird and bee | C |
Music of falling water melody | C |
Mated with magic with her golden lance | A |
This is the place made holy by Love's feet | E |
And dedicate to wonder and to dreams | F |
The ministers of Beauty 'Twas with these | G |
Love filled the place making all splendours meet | E |
And all despairs as once in woods and streams | F |
Of Ida and the gold Hesperides | F |

Here is the place where Loveliness keeps house | F |
Between the river and the wooded hills | F |
Within a valley where the Springtime spills | F |
Her firstling wind flowers under blossoming boughs | F |
Where Summer sits braiding her warm white brows | F |
With bramble roses and where Autumn fills | F |
Her lap with asters and old Winter frills | F |
With crimson haw and hip his snowy blouse | F |
Here you may meet with Beauty Here she sits | F |
Gazing upon the moon or all the day | I |
Tuning a wood thrush flute remote unseen | J |
Or when the storm is out 'tis she who flits | F |
From rock to rock a form of flying spray | I |
Shouting beneath the leaves' tumultuous green | J |

The road winds upward under whispering trees | F |
Through grass and clover where the dewdropp winks | F |
And at the hill's green crest abruptly sinks | F |
Into a valley boisterous with bees | F |
And brooks and birds Its beauty seems to seize | F |
And take one's breath with rapture joy that drinks | F |
The soul's cup dry while dreamily it links | F |
Present and past with mortal memories | F |
Or so it seems to us who heart to heart | K |
Come back the old way through the dusk and dew | L |
With all our old dreams with us blossom deep | M |
With love old dreams this vale has made a part | K |
Of its unchanging self the dreams come true | L |
That consecrate it and still guard and keep | M |

IV | N |
- | |
Keep it O dim recorders of grey years | F |
And memories of bygone happiness | F |
This vale among the hills where Love's distress | F |
And rapture walked beautiful with smiles and tears | F |
Guard it for Love's sake and for what endears | F |
Its every tree and flower each fond caress | F |
Each look of Love with which he once did bless | F |
The paths he wandered filled with hopes and fears | F |
Guard it for that sure day when far apart | K |
Life's ways have led us and with Memory | C |
One shall sit down here where two sat with Love | N |
Keep it for that time keep it like my heart | K |
Haunted for ever by that ecstasy | C |
And by those words its bowers still whisper of | N |
