Then up the orient heights to the zenith that balanced a crescentA
Up and far up and over a warm erubescence liquescentA
Rioted roses and rubies eruptions of opaline gemsB
Flung and wide sown blushed crushed and crumbled from diademsB
Wealth of the kings of the Sylphs whence old alchemist EarthC
Dewed down by chemistry occult fashions petrified waters of worthC
Then out of the stain and rash furor the passionate pulver of stoneD
The trembling suffusion that dazzled and awfully shoneD
Chamelion convulsion of color hilarious ranges of glareE
Like a god who for vengeance ires nodding battle from every hairE
Fares forth with majesty girdled and clangs with hot heroes for lifeF
Till the brazen gates boom bursten hells and the walls roar bristling strifeF
Athwart with a stab of glittering fire in plunged like a knifeF
Cut billowing gold in bullion rolled and an army drivenG
Routed the stars fled shriveled and the white moon rivenG
Puffed like a foam feather forth of a Triton's conch when soundedA
Clung vague as a web on heaven then weak as a face that is woundedA
Died on the withering clouds and sorrowed with them and mingledA
While up and up with a steadiness and triumph of sparkle that tingledA
Wrestled the tempest of Dawn that hurricaned heaven with spangleH
And halcyon bloom like mercy a shatter a scatter a tangleH
Of labyrinthed glory O God with manifold mirthC
The hallelujah of Heaven hosanna of EarthC

And I in my vision imprisoned was restless and wanI
With a yearning for vigor to gird and be goneJ
Out of false dreams to the true realities noble of dawnJ

Vanishing visions whose lineaments steal into slumbersB
Loosened the lids of the sight the night that encumbersB
Secretly sweetly with fingers of fog that were slowK
Slow as a song that mysteriousB
Passions the soul till deliriousB
Wrapped in mad melody mastering the uttermost woeK
Deep to the innermost deep it is shakenG
Ruffled and rippled and tossedA
Tantalized terrorized cursed with a thirst that unslakenG
Debauches with eyes that burn stolid yet only shall wakenG
With infinite scorn of the costA
If no note of the rhapsody's lostA

Oh for the music of moonbeams that master and sweepL
Chords of the resonant deepL
Smiting loud lyres of Night sonorous as fireM
Leap fluttering fingers of vanquishing flash and of flakeN
Fain at each firmament universe instrument star strungO
Vibrating vestured in garments of woven desireM
Stoop to me breathe on me smile on me waver AwakeN
From waking to sleeping to silence from manifold clamorM
To revelous regions of multiform glamourM
Murmur and whisper AwakeN
Oh necromance banquets by fountains of fairy the spar sprungO
Oh sorcerous beauties and wonders of wizards oh takeN
The millions of morning spun gleamsB
All glitters of galloping streamsB
The glimmer the gasp the clutch and the graspP
That colorless crystals and virtuous jewelsB
As spasmodic fuelsB
Cuddle and huddle and claspP
The wrinkle and crinkle of scintillant heat in white metalsB
The quiver of terrible gold and the pearlyQ
Lithe brilliance of soft holy petalsB
Of slender sad blossoms tumultuous tossed crispy and curlyQ
In shadowy reaches of violet darkR
The burn of the stars and the sparkR
Fragile of foams that are fluted to makeN
One cordial of dreamsB
To drink and to sinkS
Deep deep into dreams nor awakeN

As to a Nymph in the ripple ribbed body of oceanG
Down down thro' vast stories of water a hiss and devourM
Electrify altitudes orbed pulses violent motionG
Of Thunder who treads the brute neck of the seas in his powerM
Till their spine writhes lumped into waves the Nymph in her bowerM
Rubbing moist sleep from her eyes arisesB
Loosens the loops of her locksB
Loosens and suddenly darts on the storm and surprisesB
The boisterous bands of the rocksB
That hoot to the riddling arrows of rain and of seasB
Mountainous theseB
Swirling and whirlingT
She of the huge exultation beheld with long tressesB
Dotted with bells of the hollow hard foam flung streamingT
Dives bounds to the whirlwind embracing then mockingly pressesB
Hair to wild face and wild throat drifts desolate dreamingT
With scorn then laughing and screamingT
Discovers full beauty of nakedness leaping and gleamingT
And showering the rain from her hairE
Pouts blown curdled foam from her lipsB
And eddying slipsB
From the ravenous eyes of the Thunder that glareE
Away awayU
To the arms of her lover the SprayU

At swift thoughts that were spoken that cameW
As if winds had fashioned a speech was a flameW
That dwindled was kindled then mounted andA
Marvelling whyV
Stemming all thought a gleam out of gleamsB
Was born into dreamsB

Beautiful bosomed O Night with thy moonG
Move in majesty slowly to majesty lightlyQ
Silent as sleep who is lulled by a delicate tuneG
O'er stroke thou the air with a languor of moonlight brightlyQ
Thin ice in sockets of turquoise fastened the starsB
Gash golden the bosom of heaven with fiery scarsB
Swoon down O shadowy hostsB
O multitude ghostsB
Of the moonlight and starlight begotten Then sweptA
Whispers that sighed to me sorrows that stealthily hoveredA
Laughters with lips that were mist And murmurings creptA
On toward me feet that were glow and faces uncoveredA
Radiant and crystalline clearX
In tortuous sinuous swirl of vapory pearlY
Waned near and more nearX
Flashed faster a spiral of shapes and of shadows still fasterM
On in a whirl of unutterable beauties by music expiredA
That lived and desiredA
Born births of the brain of a rhapsody reveling masterM
And mine eyes with their beauties infiredA
Smiled scorn on dark Death and DisasterM

Ah now the orchard's leaves are searX
Drip not with starlight litten dewA
Green drowned no moon bright fruit hangs hereZ
Dead dead your long white lilies tooA
And you Allita where are youA
-
Then comes her dim touch faintly warmA2
Cool hair sense on my feverish cheekB2
Dim eyes at mine deep with some charmC2
So gray so gray and I am weakB2
Weak with wild tears and can not speakB2
-
I am as one who walks with dreamsB
Sees as in youth his father's homeD2
Hears from his native mountain streamsB
Far music of continual foamD2
