Below The Sunset's Range Of Rose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABAB CDCDCD EFEFEF GHGHGH IJIJK IJ LMLMLM

Below the sunset's range of roseA
Below the heaven's deepening blueB
Down woodways where the balsam blowsA
And milkweed tufts hang gray with dewB
A Jersey heifer stops and lowsA
The cows come home by one by twoB
-
There is no star yet but the smellC
Of hay and pennyroyal mixD
With herb aromas of the dellC
Where the root hidden cricket clicksD
Among the ironweeds a bellC
Clangs near the rail fenced clover ricksD
-
She waits upon the slope besideE
The windlassed well the plum trees shadeF
The well curb that the goose plums hideE
Her light hand on the bucket laidF
Unbonneted she waits glad eyedE
Her gown as simple as her braidF
-
She sees fawn colored backs amongG
The sumacs now a tossing hornH
Its clashing bell of copper rungG
Long shadows lean upon the cornH
And slow the day dies scarlet stungG
The cloud in it a rosy thornH
-
Below the pleasant moon that tipsI
The tree tops of the hillside flyJ
The flitting bats the twilight slipsI
In firefly spangles twinkling byJ
Through whichK
he-
comes Their happy lipsI
Meet and one star leaps in the skyJ
-
He takes her bucket and they speakL
Of married hopes while in the grassM
The plum drops glowing as her cheekL
The patient cows look back or passM
And in the west one golden streakL
Burns as if God gazed through a glassM
