John a Dreams and Harum ScarumA
Came a riding into townB
At the Sign o' the Jug and JorumA
There they met with Low lie downB
-
Brave in shoes of Romany leatherC
Bodice blue and gypsy gownB
And a cap of fur and featherC
In the inn sat Low lie downB
-
Harum Scarum kissed her lightlyD
Smiled into her eyes of brownB
Clasped her waist and held her tightlyD
Laughing 'Love me Low lie down '-
-
Then with many an oath and swaggerC
As a man of great renownB
On the board he clapped his daggerC
Called for sack and sat him downB
-
So a while they laughed togetherC
Then he rose and with a frownB
Sighed 'While still 'tis pheasant weatherC
I must leave thee Low lie down '-
-
So away rode Harum ScarumA
With a song rode out of townB
At the Sign o' the Jug and JorumA
Weeping tarried Low lie downB
-
Then this John a dreams in tattersE
In his pocket ne'er a crownB
Touched her saying 'Wench what mattersE
Dry your eyes and come sit downB
-
'Here's my hand we'll roam togetherC
Far away from thorp and townB
Here's my heart for any weatherC
And my dreams too Low lie downB
-
'Some men call me dreamer poetF
Some men call me fool and clownB
What I am but you shall know itG
Only you sweet Low lie down '-
-
For a little while she ponderedH
Smiled then said 'Let care go drown '-
Up and kissed him Forth they wanderedH
John a dreams and Low lie downB
