Avalon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CBCD EBEB FBFB GBGB HBHB IBJ

I Dreamed my soul went wandering inA
An island dim with mysteryB
An island that because of sinA
No mortal eye shall ever seeB
-
And while I walked one came unseenC
And gazed into my eyes ah meB
Her presence was a rose betweenC
The wind and me blown dreamilyD
-
The lily that lifts up its domeE
A tabernacle for the beeB
A faery chapel fair as foamE
Had not her absolute purityB
-
The bird that hymns the falling leafF
That breaks its heart in melodyB
Says to the soul no raptured griefF
Such as her presence said to meB
-
That moment when I felt her eyesG
Their starry transport instantlyB
I felt the indomitable skiesG
With all their worlds were less to meB
-
And when her hand lay in my ownH
Far intimations flashed through meB
Of all the loves the world has knownH
And given to immortalityB
-
A look a touch and she was goneI
And somewhere near but shadowyB
A voice said 'This is AvalonJ
And she they soul's old tragedy '-
