At The Sign Of The Skull Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL BB

It's 'Gallop and go ' and 'Slow now slow 'A
With every man in this life belowB
But the things of this world are a fleeting showB
-
The postchaise Time that all must takeC
Is old with clay and dustD
Two horses strain its rusty brakeC
Named Pleasure and DisgustD
-
Our baggage totters on its roofE
Of Vanity and CareF
As Hope the postboy spurs each hoofE
Or heavy eyed DespairF
-
And now a comrade with us ridesG
Love haply or RemorseH
And that dim traveler besidesG
Gaunt Memory on a horseH
-
And be we king or be we kernI
Who ride the roads of SinJ
No matter how the roads may turnI
They lead us to that InnJ
-
Unto that Inn within that landK
Of silence and of gloomL
Whose ghastly landlord takes our handK
And leads us to our roomL
-
It's 'Gallop and go ' and 'Slow now slow '-
With every man in this life belowB
But the things of this world are a fleeting showB
