We walked in the wasted wood | E |
Her face as the Spring's was fair | F |
Her blood was the Spring's own blood | G |
The Spring's her radiant hair | F |

And we found in the windy wild | H |
One cowering violet | I |
Like a frail and tremulous child | H |
In the caked leaves bowed and wet | J |

And I sighed at the sight with pain | K |
For the May's warm face in the wood | E |
May's passions of sun and rain | K |
May's raiment of bloom and of bud | G |

But she said when she saw me sad | A |
Tho' the world be gloomy as fate | L |
And we yearn for the days to be glad | A |
Dear heart we can afford to wait | L |

For know one beautiful thing | M |
On the dark day's bosom curled | N |
Makes the wild day glad to sing | M |
Content to smile at the world | N |

And man's is the sin and gloom | O |

With a twinkle of rustling feet | T |
Blooms stormed from her luminous arms | S |
And honey of smiles that were sweet | T |

Now I think of her words that day | B |
This day that I longed so to see | R |
That finds her dead with the May | B |
And the March but a memory | R |
