An Autumn Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABCCCB DDDBEEEB FFFFGGGH

Some things are good on Autumn nightsA
When with the storm the forest fightsA
And in the room the heaped hearth lightsA
Old fashioned press and rafterB
Plump chestnuts hissing in the heatC
A mug of cider sharp and sweetC
And at your side a face petiteC
With lips of laughterB
-
Upon the roof the rolling rainD
And tapping at the window paneD
The wind that seems a witch's caneD
That summons spells togetherB
A hand within your own awhileE
A mouth reflecting back your smileE
And eyes two stars whose beams exileE
All thoughts of weatherB
-
And while the wind lulls still to sitF
And watch her fire lit needles flitF
A knitting and to feel her knitF
Your very heartstrings in itF
Then when the old clock ticks 'tis lateG
To rise and at the door to waitG
Two words or at the garden gateG
A kissing minuteH
