Afterword Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAA ACAC DEDE AAAA

What vague traditions do the golden evesA
What legends do the dawnsB
Inscribe in fire on Heaven's azure leavesA
The red sun colophonsA
-
What ancient stories do the waters verseA
What tales of war and loveC
Do winds within the Earth's vast house rehearseA
God's stars stand guard aboveC
-
Would I could know them as they are expressedD
In hue and melodyE
And say in words the beauties they suggestD
Language their mysteryE
-
And in one song magnificently riseA
The music of the spheresA
That more than marble should immortalizeA
My name in after yearsA
