A Thought Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG HIHI

And I have thought of youth which strainsA
Nearer its God to riseB
What were ambition and its painsA
Were life a cowardiceC
-
The grander souls that rose aboveD
Thought's noblest heights to treadE
Found their endeavor in their loveD
And truth behind the deadE
-
A secret glory in the tombF
A night that dawns in lightG
An intense presence veiled with gloomF
And not an endless nightG
-
Nepenthe of this struggling worldH
Thou who dost stay mad CareI
When her fury's scourge above is curledH
And we see her writhing hairI
