Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKEK LMFM NOPO QRRR SBTBBThey boast of Ormuz's milk white pearls | A |
The ruby's magic art | B |
And proudly wear the crystal drop | C |
That fires the diamond's heart | B |
- | |
And these may admiration claim | D |
And countless wealth may sway | E |
But rarer gem was given to me | F |
One golden summer day | E |
- | |
Its wondrous tints a brilliant glow | G |
Emit in darkest gloom | H |
A sweeter fragrance 'round it clings | I |
Than breath of eastern bloom | H |
- | |
Were all earth's costly jewels thrown | J |
In one great glittering heap | K |
They could not buy for ev'n a day | E |
The gem I'd selfish keep | K |
- | |
Yet 'twas not won from pearly depths | L |
Nor gleaned from diamond mine | M |
Nor all the chemist's subtlety | F |
Its substance could define | M |
- | |
It ne'er was set in band of fold | N |
Some dainty hand to grace | O |
Ne'er shone in diadem to deck | P |
A brow of kingly race | O |
- | |
For me alone a wizard spell | Q |
Lies prisoned in its beams | R |
Hours of enchanted ecstacy | R |
And days of Eden dreams | R |
- | |
Wouldst know the precious gift with which | S |
For worlds I would not part | B |
The priceless jewel is they love | T |
Its setting is my heart | B |
REVENITA | B |
