Rain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFG HIJIKEFG HLMLDEFG

Drop drop dropA
With a ceaseless patter fallB
With a sobbing sound on the sodden groundC
And the gray clouds over allB
Dost weep of the parted summerD
O spirit of the rainE
For the vanished hours and the faded flowersF
That never can come againG
-
The farmer smiles at they weepingH
Hushing the whispering leavesI
And dreams of days in the Autumn hazeJ
And the gathered golden sheavesI
There's a voice of hope a promiseK
In the sound of thy refrainE
And as bright the hours and as fair the flowersF
That will come to thee againG
-
And yet in our lives though knowingH
That we hold a scepter's swayL
How oft we turn with the thoughts that burnM
To weep on Autumn dayL
Turn from the hopeful futureD
To weep in grief and painE
For the vanished hours and the faded flowersF
That never can come againG
