Fate Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABAA CADA BABAA EADA BFBGF CADA

Ruth was a laughing eyed prattlerA
Thoughtless and happy and freeA
She planted a seed in the gardenB
And said It will grow to a treeA
A beautiful blossoming treeA
-
The birds and the squirrels played round itC
As careless and merry was sheA
But not tree ever grew from her plantingD
No beautiful blossoming treeA
-
Ruth was a winsome faced maidenB
Happy and hopeful and freeA
She planted a seed in the gardenB
And smilingly waited to seeA
A beautiful blossoming treeA
-
She covered the ground up with flowersE
The butterfly came and the beeA
But no tree ever grew from her plantingD
No beautiful blossoming treeA
-
Ruth was a pale saddened womanB
Thoughtful with tremblings and fearsF
She planted a seed in the gardenB
And watered the place with her tearsG
And watched it with tremblings and fearsF
-
The winds and the rains beat upon itC
The lightnings flashed o'er it in gleeA
But she sleeps 'neath the tree of her plantingD
A beautiful blossoming treeA
