Why did Adam need Eve?
Did God create her not as a lover,
But as a filler of a void of solitary?
Although he had everything,
Nothing was ever enough,
No angelic being,
No alluring beast pleased his rapacious mind,
Not even one formed of his own rib,
Part of him,
With him.
Maybe he lived like this as he was crafted from dust,
So hollowly devoid of life he needed to engulf himself in other wonders,
But nothing ever truly satiates does it?
Temptation,
A clasping hand dragged his mindless figure,
And still his taste,
His hunger,
His yearn for fulfilment remains.
As all men do I have learnt,
He blamed his faults upon his rib,
His form,
His only truly soulful part.
He never wanted her.
He never needed her.
She was nothing but a placeholder.

Poet's note: I wrote this poem about the story of Adam and Eve from Genesis. You see, everyone has always blamed Eve for the faults. I however believe both were to blame. This poem is my thoughts on that story. Enjoy!
