In Memoriam. - Richard Ely Collins, Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDDC EFGGF HIJJI KLFFL MNOON

Son of Mr MORRIS COLLINS died at Wethersfield September th aged months and daysA
-
-
It was a sad and lovely sightB
They call'd us to beholdC
That infant forehead high and fairD
Those beauteous features sculptured rareD
Yet breathless all and coldC
-
Heard it in dreams an angel voiceE
Soft as the zephyr's toneF
The yearning of a Mother mildG
To clasp once more her three months' childG
But a few days her ownF
-
Just a few days of wasting painH
She linger'd by its sideI
And then consign'd to stranger armsJ
The frail unfolding of the charmsJ
She would have watch'd with prideI
-
Yet happy babe to reach a homeK
Beyond all sorrowing caresL
Where none a Mother's loss can moanF
Or seek for bread and find a stoneF
Or fall in fatal snaresL
-
Thrice happy to have pass'd awayM
Ere Time's sore ills invadeN
From fragrant buds that drooping shedO
Their life sigh o'er thy coffin bedO
To flowers that never fadeN
