Rhyme Scheme: A BCBCDD EFEEGG HIHIJJ KLKLMM NONOPP

Wife of Rev WILLIAM H C ROBERTSON died at Magnolia East Florida January th agedA
-
-
Our buds have faded winter's frigid breathB
Sigh'd o'er their bosoms and they fell awayC
So in these household bowers the ice of deathB
Bids rose and lily ere their prime decayC
And see a Passion Flower from tropic skiesD
Beneath our drifted snows not without requiem liesD
-
A brilliant daughter of the Cuban valesE
Of generous mind impulsive strong and highF
Twined the home tendril where our northern galesE
Sweep grove and forest with their minstrelsyE
Labor'd for classic lore with studious partG
And planted friendship's germ in many an answering heartG
-
Her filial piety intensely warmH
Whose gushing tenderness no limit knewI
Clasp'd day and night a Mother's wasted formH
And o'er her failing powers protection threwI
Cheering the darken'd soul with comfort sweetJ
And girding it anew life's latest pang to meetJ
-
Then came the sacred vow for good or illK
The life long study of another's joyL
The raptur'd and unutterable thrillK
With which a mother greets her first born boyL
The climax of those hopes and duties dearM
Which Heaven's unerring hand accords to Woman's sphereM
-
And then the scene was ended and she foundN
What here her ardent nature vainly soughtO
Unwithering flowers and music's tuneful soundN
Without a shadow or discordant thoughtO
And entered through a dear Redeemer's loveP
The never changing clime of perfect rest aboveP
