Died at Saratoga N Y June d agedA
-
WRITTEN ON HER BIRTH DAYB
-
-
This was her birth day hereC
When summer's latest flowersD
Were kindling to their flush and primeE
As if they felt how short the timeE
In these terrestrial bowersD
-
She hath a birth day nowF
No hastening night that knowsG
She hath a never ending yearH
Which feels no blight of autumn sereH
Nor chill of wintry snowsG
-
She hath no pain or fearH
But by her Saviour's sideI
Expansion finds for every powerJ
And knowledge her angelic dowerK
An ever flowing tideI
-
They sorrow who were calledL
From her sweet smile to partM
Who wore her love links fondly twinedN
Like woven threads of gold refinedN
Around their inmost heartM
-
Tears are upon the cheeksO
Of little ones this dayB
God of the motherless whose eyeP
Notes even the ravens when they cryP
Wipe Thou their tears awayB
-
Oh comfort all who grieveQ
Beside the sacred urnR
For brief our space to wail or sighP
Like grass we fade like dreams we flyP
And rest with those we mournS
