WRITTEN ON HER BIRTH DAY | B |
- | |
- | |
This was her birth day here | C |
When summer's latest flowers | D |
Were kindling to their flush and prime | E |
As if they felt how short the time | E |
In these terrestrial bowers | D |
- | |
She hath a birth day now | F |
No hastening night that knows | G |
She hath a never ending year | H |
Which feels no blight of autumn sere | H |
Nor chill of wintry snows | G |
- | |
She hath no pain or fear | H |
But by her Saviour's side | I |
Expansion finds for every power | J |
And knowledge her angelic dower | K |
An ever flowing tide | I |
- | |
They sorrow who were called | L |
From her sweet smile to part | M |
Who wore her love links fondly twined | N |
Like woven threads of gold refined | N |
Around their inmost heart | M |
- | |
Tears are upon the cheeks | O |
Of little ones this day | B |
God of the motherless whose eye | P |
Notes even the ravens when they cry | P |
Wipe Thou their tears away | B |
- | |
Oh comfort all who grieve | Q |
Beside the sacred urn | R |
For brief our space to wail or sigh | P |
Like grass we fade like dreams we fly | P |
And rest with those we mourn | S |
