Oh sorrowing Daughter left alone | B |
In home's deserted sphere | C |
Where every object group'd around | D |
In pleasant room or garden's bound | D |
Is twined by links of sight or sound | D |
With the lost Mother dear | C |
- | |
Yet take sweet thoughts thy grief to soothe | E |
Of what she was below | F |
Her years to faithful duty given | G |
Her comfort in the Book of Heaven | G |
Her ready trust when life was riven | G |
To Christ her Lord to go | F |
- | |
And take sweet memories of the care | H |
That smoothed her couch of pain | I |
The grateful love that o'er her way | J |
Kept tender vigil night and day | J |
And let its pure reflected ray | J |
Thy drooping heart sustain | I |
- | |
So shall thy faith the pang assuage | K |
That heaves thy mourning breast | L |
For nearer brings each setting sun | G |
Their blessed meeting who have won | G |
The plaudit of the Judge Well done | G |
Come enter to my rest | L |
