In Memoriam. - Miss Jane Penelope Whiting, Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDC EFGF HIJK LMNM OPQP RSES TUVU

Died at Portland Connecticut January stA
-
-
I think of her unfolding primeB
Her childhood bright and fairC
The speaking eye the earnest smileD
The dark and lustrous hairC
-
The fondness by a Mother's sideE
To cling with docile mindF
Fast in the only sister's handG
Her own forever twinedF
-
The candor of her trustful youthH
The heart that freshly woveI
Sweet garlands even from thorn clad bowersJ
Because it dwelt in loveK
-
The stainless life whose truth and graceL
Made each beholder seeM
The gladness of a spirit tunedN
To heavenly harmonyM
-
But when this fair New Year looked forthO
Over the old one's graveP
While bridal pleasures neath her roofQ
Their bright infusion gaveP
-
Upon the lightning's wing there cameR
A message none might stayS
An angel standing at her sideE
To bear the soul awayS
-
For us was sorrow's startling shockT
The tear the loss the painU
For her the uncomputed blissV
Of never ending gainU
