We miss her at the chancel sideB
For when we last drew nearC
The holy Eucharist to shareD
She with the warmth of praise and prayerD
Was meekly kneeling hereE

We miss her when the liberal handF
Relieves a thirsting soilG
And when the Blessed Church demandsH
Assistance for the mission bandsH
That on her frontier toilG

We miss her 'mid the gather'd trainI
Of children young and poorJ
Whom year by year she deign'd to teachK
With faithful zeal and patient speechK
And hope that anchor'd sureL

Her couch is in the ancestral tombM
With Putnam's honor'd dustN
The true in word the bold in deedO
A bulwark in his Country's needO
A tower of strength and trustN

Her spirit's home is with her LordP
Whom from her youth she soughtQ
The miss'd below hath found aboveR
The promise of a God of LoveR
Made to the pure in thoughtQ
