In Memoriam. - Miss Catharine Ball, Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDDC EFGGF HIJKI KLMML NOPPPO

Daughter of Hon Judge BALL of Hoosick Falls N Y died at the City of WashingtonA
-
-
Bright sunbeam of a father's heartB
Whose earliest radiance shoneC
Delightful o'er a mother's eyeD
Like morning star in cloudless skyD
Say whither hast thou flownC
-
Fair inmate of a happy homeE
Whose love so gently shedF
Could a serene enchantment makeG
And love in stranger bosoms wakeG
Ah whither art thou fledF
-
They know who trust the Saviour's wordH
With faith no tear can dimI
That such as bear His spirit hereJ
And do His will in duty's sphereK
Shall rise to dwell with HimI
-
They know who feel an Angel nearK
Though hid from mortal sightL
And reaching out to her their handM
Shall safer reach that Pleasant LandM
Whose buds no blast can blightL
-
Even I who but with fleeting glanceN
Beheld thee here belowO
From its remembered sweetness gainP
New impulse toward that heavenly trainP
Whose harps in never ceasing strainP
With God's high praises glowO
